How to sound more confident

You want to learn to sound more confident.
That’s actually (part of) the problem.
Fundamentally, here is what you need to understand.
Sounding confident is great… until you unconsciously fall back into old patterns.
We all have speech patterns and speaking habits. Most of these have formed from years of speaking a specific way. And spoiler: thinking a specific way.
If you want to be a more confident speaker, this is what you need to understand:
Your words are a reflection of your subconscious mind.
In other words, your words reflect your thoughts.
If you want to learn to speak more confidently, it is important to practice:
open body language
a strong tone
expertise in your topic
However, it's even more important to start working on your inner dialogue.
Start paying attention to your thought patterns:
How do you think?
What thoughts do you have repeatedly?
Are your thoughts full of uncertainty?
Do you have self-doubt playing in a loop?
Your words are the window to your subconscious mind.
They reflect what you think.
Until you improve the way you think on a daily basis, no amount of (fake) confident reframes will save you.
Do the inner work first.
Identify what your thought patterns are.
Notice when the thoughts come up. How do you talk to yourself before you need to speak in front of others?
Start reflecting on where these beliefs came from. Why do you think this?
Question their validity. Can you look for the opposite? Have there been times when you did well, when you weren't nervous, where you presented confidently?
Train yourself to start thinking more positively - and to have more confidence in your ability.
Bonus step: look up examples of other individuals who speak with confidence in a way that resonates with you. Try some of their techniques yourself. What feels good, what doesn't? Use these examples as role models for your own skills.
When you think more confidently, it becomes easier to speak more confidently.
You've got this.
